FACIAL FAT TRANSFER IN ATLANTA
WHAT IS A FACIAL FAT TRANSFER (FAT GRAFTING, FAT INJECTIONS)?
Many of the visible signs of facial aging result from the breakdown of the underlying facial tissues, which is an inevitable part of the natural aging process. These facial tissues are responsible for giving the skin its youthfully full, healthy appearance, and their deterioration leads to a loss of facial volume and an increase in the visibility of facial wrinkles and lines, causing the face to appear tired and sunken. By restoring depleted facial volume and filling in unsightly creases, wrinkles and folds, facial fat transfers provide minimally invasive treatment options that serve as an effective countermeasure to these problematic aesthetic developments, and create a natural rejuvenation of one’s overall facial appearance.
Facial fat transfers are commonly used for the following purposes:
- To minimize the appearance of nasolabial folds (lines running downard from the nose to the mouth, “laugh lines”)
- To diminish the appearance of forehead wrinkles and marionette lines (lines running straight down from the corners of the mouth)
- To restore fullness to the lips, temples and cheeks
Facial Fat Transfer Treatment Details
Although facial fat transfers are less invasive than many other surgeries, it is still important that they be performed by a competent and experienced physician, such as Atlanta-based plastic surgeons Dr. Wright Jones and Dr. Sabine Lovell. Drs. Jones and Lovell are compassionate and well-respected plastic surgeons, who will work with you to customize your facial fat transfer procedure in order to achieve maximum facial enhancement in a safe and comfortable office environment.
During the simple, outpatient fat transfer procedure, Dr. Jones or Dr. Lovell will harvest small amounts of fat from a donor site on your body (i.e. thighs, abdomen, or hips), and will inject this fat into regions of the face suffering from depleted volume. The most common transfer locations include the nasolabial folds, lips, under eye area, temples, and mid-facial cheek region; however, this technique can also be utilized to correct skin depressions or indentations, and to minimize forehead wrinkles.
The facial fat transfer procedure is performed using local anesthesia, with little discomfort and minimal downtime, and can function as an excellent ancillary procedure in conjunction with a facelift or other facial rejuvenation surgery.
