BROW LIFT IN ATLANTA
What is BROW LIFT (FOREHEAD LIFT, EYEBROW REJUVENATION, CORONOPLASTY)?
With age, the lines across the forehead and between the eyes begin to deepen and the facial tissue loses its natural elasticity, which can cause the skin to sag and the face to appear older, tired, and drawn. Some individuals will also experience the development of lateral hooding (folds of skin) around the outer corners of the eyes (between the eyelid and eyebrow), which can compound the aging effect on one’s facial appearance. If you have experienced any of the aforementioned aesthetic concerns, or are simply dissatisfied with the appearance of your eyebrow and forehead region, a brow lift may be an effective solution.
Brow lifts are surgical procedures designed to revitalize the overall facial appearance by minimizing the appearance of frown lines (lines on the bridge of the nose between the eyebrows) and forehead creases, thereby creating a youthfully smooth forehead surface. A brow lift is also an effective solution to correct sagging eyebrows or hooding of the upper eyelids, two common visible signs of aging that can cause the face to appear fatigued and worn. BROW LIFT OPTIONS
During your initial consultation, Dr. Jones or Dr. Lovell will conduct a thorough medical assessment, including an evaluation of your aesthetic goals and facial bone structure, in order to select the appropriate brow lift technique from the following options:
- Coronal Brow lift: an incision along your hairline across the top of your head will be used to lift your forehead to its new, elevated position. Forehead muscles will be weakened in order to minimize horizontal forehead lines and creases.
- Endoscopic Brow lift: this less invasive alternative to the coronal technique uses very small incisions and an endoscope with a tiny camera mounted on its end to lift and reposition the forehead, while removing the procerus and corrugator supercilli muscles (the muscles responsible for creating frown lines and the “elevens” creases between the eyebrows).
- Temporal Brow lift: this technique involves smaller incisions in the temple region of the forehead that are concealed primarily in the scalp. Although this procedure offers the advantage of inconspicuous scarring, only the outer portion of the brow is elevated, and the results are not as long-lasting as with the coronal lift technique.
Brow lift surgery may be performed as a supplementary procedure, or in conjunction with other facial enhancement surgeries (i.e. blepharoplasty, facelift, rhinoplasty, skin resurfacing) in order to produce a more comprehensive rejuvenation of the entire face.
BROW LIFT RECOVERY
At the conclusion of your brow lift surgery, Dr. Jones or Dr. Lovell will place a soft wrap around your head, which you will wear for 2-4 days, and will schedule a follow-up visit to remove your sutures in approximately one week. The coronal brow lift technique typically requires a lengthier recovery period and more extensive post-operative bruising and swelling than the endoscopic and temporal methods. Coronal brow lift patients may also experience temporary post-procedural numbness or itching. Elevating your head will help to minimize any swelling, bruising or discomfort, and you may gradually resume your normal activities within 2-3 weeks, as it becomes comfortable to do so.
